Designing for life when things get hard

My design approach is about fostering resilience and future-preparedness during tough times.

It ultimately paves the way for opportunities, empowering young adults to overcome challenges in education, personal life, finances, and health.

Lives as stories

"Lives as Stories" is a toolkit designed in collaboration with non-profit Project YouthBuild (Gainesville, FL) to unpack resilience and motivation in young people confronting uncertainty and life challenges.

The content integrates personal life storytelling with a literary-analysis tool to enhance decision-making for individuals navigating life challenges.

The design process involved stakeholder interviews, participatory design ideation sessions, storyboarding, content development, prototyping, editorial design. The result was a full workshop facilitation toolkit containing a 46-page activity book, a slide-deck and a sample workshop session facilitated at PYB's Gainesville campus for ongoing use.

Challenged to graduate

User research and participatory design process to unpack layers of experiences that were making school tough. Worked with over 20 community members and 3 stakeholders digging into the world of UNSJ students in San Juan, Argentina.

Collaborating remotely across two time zones, we discovered that encouraging autonomy would be a game-changer for students. This resulted in an outline of actionable insights to kick off a design process focused on giving them more resources when facing uncertainties.

Cosas de Estudiantes

Led a 16-week initiative as an Experience Designer and Researcher, collaborating remotely with near 30 remote and in-person user testers and 5 stakeholders. Designed a student-centered board game aimed at promoting self-agency in higher education. The game, a result of mixed-method user testing, was showcased at the University of Florida and in a community-friendly online event on participatory design.
